Some criminal elements who hid under the canopy of being masquerades and robbing Lagos residents have been arrested by the police.
It was a funny and hilarious situation when some masquerades were among criminal suspects paraded by the new Lagos State Police Commissioner, Edgal Imohinmi at the State Police Command on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.
The masquerades and hoodlums were reportedly arrested by officers who responded to distress calls by residents of the Elere community in Agege area of the state and were arrested while robbing residents.
It was gathered that the masquerades and the other bandits had constituted themselves into a nuisance in the area and were in the habit of terrorizing and robbing the residents, especially people going to work early in the morning or returning late at night, dispossessing them of their valuables.
It was also learned that when the police officers stormed the area to effect their arrest and bring sanity to the area, the masquerades resorted to attacking the team while some of them ran to the palace of the Baale of the area who promptly handed them over to the police as he was not in support of their nefarious activities.
CP Imohinmi who spoke while parading the spirit criminals vowed to make Lagos a safe place for residents with a renewed onslaught on criminal elements in the state and promised that the masquerades would be charged to court as they were.
