In what sounds like a tale of the bizarre, Dangote truck drivers have allegedly looted 3.5million tyres belonging to the company, with 285 of them now declared wanted.
These facts were made known by the Coordinator of the company’s National Patrol Unit, Abdullahi Magaji, while addressing media men on Sunday in Lokoja.
Noting that each tyre of the company had codes on them, Magaji said such tracking systems made it easy to pin down culprit drivers.
”Already, 285 drivers identified to have collected 285 tyres have been declared wanted while a number of others are on the run.
”…We have stopped their salaries and we are looking for them. So far, about 3.5 million tyres are missing from the company and we believe they are in circulation within and outside the country. We are determined to recover them, ” he said.
Magaji added that security agents were on the trail of an identified kingpin who comes to Obajana and Kano to buy the tyres off the drivers.
The identity of the kingpin was not revealed by Magaji, just as the period within which the 3.5 tyres were allegedly looted was also not stated.
