Rohr in an interview confirmed that the Super Eagles will play Senegal in March in London.
Super Eagles boss, Gernot Rohr has confirmed that the Nigeria will face Senegal in a friendly game in March 2017.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been working hard to get friendly games to prepare the Super Falcons for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles will face South Africa in June for a Group E qualifiers clash for AFCON 2019 and also have a crucial double header against African champions Cameroon for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The NFF have been specific about the preparations for the double header against Cameroon and have been looking for similar opposition for a friendly game.
Rohr in an interview with the media officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye confirmed that the Super Eagles will play Senegal in March in London.
“We wanted to have two big games, one of the biggest teams were Senegal who were unlucky to get knocked out of AFCON with a penalty shootout,” Rohr said in the interview on the official YouTube channel of the Super Eagles.
“The first friendly will be against Senegal in London In March.”
Rohr also revealed that a second friendly game against Ghana or Morocco will also be arranged.
Rohr also stressed the need to pay attention to the preparation for the game against South Africa in June and revealed that a possible friendly against Ghana will be used for preparation against the Bafana Bafana.
“We cannot only focus ion Cameroon, the first focus is South Africa I know our mind is in the two games against Cameroon but we have to focus on South Africa,” Rohr said.
“This is why I think Ghana friendly could be similar.
“Let us go step by step. We want to have new plays to integrate into the team and we need the two friendlies in March to do it well.
“We don’t play for results in these two games, we want to test some new players.
“Of course we want to win but most important is to integrate and involve some players and to make some test about strategy and about the starting players we want to.
